Giffard Banane du Bresil liqueur. Guys, this. OMG. Sooo near the start of my homebar journey, for some reason I decided to pick up a bottle of 99 Bananas schnapps liqueur. 🤨 Well, that bottle came to haunt my home bar for YEARS, and there was no way to get rid of it no matter how many “banana shots!” I proclaimed at parties I hosted. 😅 Well, lo and behold it’s no surprise that experience completely shut me off from the world of banana liqueurs.
After getting into the Instagram world the past year, I kept seeing amazing sounding recipes incorporating the Giffard Banane du Bresil liqueur, and post by post, they grew on me. I picked up a bottle, and my life is changed. 🍌
GUYS. The incredible-ness I felt about the Giffard Pamplemousse/Grapefruit liqueur (BarFaithGiffardPamplemousse) now extends to this. This tastes like rich, buttery, deliciously toasty banana bread. There is no question about the high quality of this liqueur – no artificial flavors here. It’s made from a slow maceration (infusion) of #bananas in a neutral spirit, and finished with a bit of barrel-aged cognac (a grape-based spirit).
Sooo, in summary, if you’ve ever had a negative experience, or was ever hesitant about the idea of a BANANA liqueur, I can almost guarantee you that this is one purchase you won’t regret. I could seriously just drink this liqueur straight all day, though *I guess* that wouldn’t be a great idea…😛 It’s a fantastic liqueur to pick up for your cocktails and is suprisingly versatile, working fantastically with rum, brandy, and whiskey (even smoky Scotch! See Banana Stand!).
