Cimarron Reposado Tequila. Tequila is a spirit that can be quite expensive, but there’s no need to fork out $$$$ for over-marketed Patron in search of good tequila, there are definitely quality brands out there making the good stuff at a great price. I was super happy to have discovered this great bottle of Cimarron, a fantastic example of just that. It is extremely budget-friendly while upholding the standards of quality – it’s crisp, clean, and smooth, a superb intro tequila that will be perfect for your home mixing (or sip/shoot it straight!)

This bottle is their Reposado, which refers to the age classification of the spirit, aged in barrels anywhere from 2 months to a year. Note that this is very different from ‘gold’ tequila. Although color-wise they may look similar, gold/oro tequila usually gets its hue from added colorants, while reposado or añejo (1-3yrs) gets its golden color from the natural barrel aging process.

Tequila is definitely one spirit that can have quite a polarizing effect on people. I absolutely HATED it when I first tried it, then somehow grew to LOVE it the next year. Then proceeded to have some tequila shot obsessed years. Today, I’m the happy owner of only a few bottles but really appreciate its versatility for all sorts of drinks – light and refreshing, dark and savory, and all areas in between.

If you haven’t quite found your taste for tequila yet, chances are you just haven’t found the right drink. Check these out for some inspiration!
