About
This is the Japanese Cocktail, created by Jerry Thomas in 1860 for visiting Japanese officials. It’s a spirit forward drink highlighting the lovely barrel aged spirit of cognac, enhanced with lovely nuttiness and fragrant with lemon oil.
Cognac is the spirit that really was the centerpiece of many pre-Prohibition era classic cocktails. Distilled from specific varieties of grapes in the wine-making Cognac region of France (making it a brandy – a spirit distilled from fruits), cognac is aged in French oak and masterfully blended for utmost flavor harmony. It’s governed by an AOC (Appellation of Origin) to ensure specific production standards, guaranteeing its superior and consistent quality. If you enjoy aged spirits and have yet to try cognac, it’s time to pick up a bottle.
