Recipe
- 2oz Old Tom Gin (I used Tanqueray)
- 1oz 3/4oz tonic syrup
- 4oz (or to taste) of sparkling water
- Fruits to garnish – try a mix of citrus, berries, or whatever else you have!
Add liquid ingredients into a glass with ice and stir to combine. Add your fruit garnishes last.
About
It’s hard to argue the appeal and simplicity of a gin&tonic. As much as I like experimenting with cocktails, the G&T is definitely still my go-to and one that I will always come back to. That said, it doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy playing around and fanci-fying it up every now and then! Here, I used a tonic syrup from 3/4oz Tonic (this is such an incredible, perfectly balanced tonic syrup! LOVE), Old Tom gin (which is generally a sweeter style of gin compared to London Dry), and decked it out with all sorts of fruits I could find around the kitchen. Go wild, your garnishes not only will make the drink beautiful, but will add wonderful aromas and flavors that will make your “Plain Jane” G&T into the belle of the ball!
I’m a big fan of tonic syrups and the discovery of the category totally changed the way I thought about tonic water. You can think of tonic syrups as a concentrated form of tonic water that you then dilute with sparkling water to taste, allowing you to control the flavor intensity you want. I find them to be much more flavorful than bottled tonic waters and really love the intensity it provides. You can really taste the bitterness of the quinine (bitter bark) that I think often gets lost in bottled tonic waters.
