Recipe
- 1oz tequila (Siembra Azul)
- 1oz mezcal (Yuu Baal Espadin)
- 1oz lime juice
- .5oz orange liqueur (Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao)
- .5oz passionfruit syrup (Small Hand Foods)
- (optional) sal de gusano (Gran Mitla) smoked worm salt & sea salt mix – if you don’t have this, use a regular smoked salt, but the worm salt is life changing!
Sweep a lime wedge to wet the edge of the glass, dip rim in the salt, then fill with ice. Shake all the other ingredients with ice, then strain into the salt-rimmed glass.
About
Welllll, this drink needs no introduction. Who can say no to a delicious marg? I love splitting the base between Tequila and a smoky Mezcal to add that pizazz. And the combo is also really fun and easy to set up as a “DIY” cocktail station for parties. Prep your sour mix (fresh lime juice and simple syrup), have some syrup/liqueur options on hand (passionfruit, Ancho Reyes, berry, orange, etc), your base spirits (silver and aged tequilas, mezcal), fun rims (salt mixes, chilies, Tajin, etc) and let your guests go wild!
