Giffard Banane du Bresil liqueur. Guys, this. OMG. Sooo near the start of my homebar journey, for some reason I decided to pick up a bottle of 99 Bananas schnapps liqueur. ๐คจ Well, that bottle came to haunt my home bar for YEARS, and there was no way to get rid of it no matter how many “banana shots!” I proclaimed at parties I hosted. ๐ Well, lo and behold it’s no surprise that experience completely shut me off from the world of banana liqueurs.
After getting into the Instagram world the past year, I kept seeing amazing sounding recipes incorporating the Giffard Banane du Bresil liqueur, and post by post, they grew on me. I picked up a bottle, and my life is changed. ๐
GUYS. The incredible-ness I felt about the Giffard Pamplemousse/Grapefruit liqueur (BarFaithGiffardPamplemousse) now extends to this. This tastes like rich, buttery, deliciously toasty banana bread. There is no question about the high quality of this liqueur – no artificial flavors here. It’s made from a slow maceration (infusion) of #bananas in a neutral spirit, and finished with a bit of barrel-aged cognac (a grape-based spirit).
Sooo, in summary, if you’ve ever had a negative experience, or was ever hesitant about the idea of a BANANA liqueur, I can almost guarantee you that this is one purchase you won’t regret. I could seriously just drink this liqueur straight all day, though *I guess* that wouldn’t be a great idea…๐ It’s a fantastic liqueur to pick up for your cocktails and is suprisingly versatile, working fantastically with rum, brandy, and whiskey (even smoky Scotch! See Banana Stand!).
