Agricole Mojito

Recipe

  • 2oz agricole rhum (I used Dillon 55%)
  • .5oz sugarcane syrup (Clement)
  • 8-10 mint leaves
  • .75oz lime juice
  • Splash of soda water

Gently muddle the mint leaves with syrup and lime juice. Add the rum and fill with crushed ice. Swizzle away! Top with a splash of soda water, give it a final stir, and add a sprig of mint for that fresh scent on ya nose.

About

This combo is inspired by the local cocktail scene in Martinique. There isn’t a strong ”cocktail culture” there (Ti punch all day erryyday), but what cocktails they had, were all made with grassy high-proof agricole rum (instead of the standard molasses-based rums).

The mojito seemed to be a popular cocktail choice, and for good reason – it’s freakin delicious. This is like a cross between a traditional mojito (usually made with a light molasses-based rum) and a Ti Punch (holy Martinique trinity of agricole rum, lime peel, and cane sugar/syrup), and it is fabulous. Give it a try, you might just find a new favorite mojito. 😉
