About
So I’ve been loving the Mezcal book, and you bet I’ve been excited about all the amazing craft mezcal recipes it includes. This recipe comes from Jan Warren from the Dutch Kills bar. If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I’m a rum fanatic (particularly Jamaican), so of course I couldn’t pass up a mezcal+Jamaican rum combo.
As a drink named for its ability to get “better and better,” it sure starts out pretty strongly positive! I think the garnish here is key, and it wouldn’t be the same drink without it. Fresh lemon on the nose, followed by the subtle sweetness of the falernum and molasses flavors of the funky rum. At its core, it still retains the brightness from the mezcal. This is a simple combination that is just fantastic when you’re looking for an alternative to those oak-y brown stirred drinks. Give this a try!
