Recipe

• 2oz rum (Denizen Merchant’s Reserve, or sub your own favorite!)
• .75oz lime juice
• .5oz simple syrup (1:1 sugar/water)

Shake all ingredients with ice and strain.

A daiquiri is one of the simplest rum drinks, composed only of the magical trifecta of rum+lime+sugar, and is often said to be one of the best ways to evaluate a rum in a cocktail (when you want something other than sipping it straight). The template opens doors to so many different variations – other than varying the rum, play around your ratios, or your choice of syrup, and the sky is the limit.

I’ve talked about daiquiris previously, as well as the original version (using brown sugar and served on ice), but this here is a daiquiri using Denizen Merchant’s Reserve rum. Click through to read more about the rum, but in short, this is an 8-year aged blended rum that is inspired by the rums that were likely used in the original Mai Tai. In a daiquiri, this was absolutely fantastic.
