Recipe
- 1oz salted brown butter fat-washed gin (instructions below; if you use non-salted butter, add an additional dash of salt or saline solution in the drink)
- .25oz quality coffee liqueur (Mr. Black)
- .25oz Averna Amaro
- .25oz heavy cream
- Barspoon (tsp) of Amaretto liqueur
Shake all ingredients with ice, and double strain into a glass. No garnish.
How to brown butter “wash” a spirit:
- Make some brown butter. Heat it on low and watch it carefully until it starts turning slightly brown. Turn off the heat immediately when it does, it goes SUPER quickly from browned to burnt
- Put in a jar and add your spirit of choice (4x spirit to liquid butter ratio, but you can probably get away with an even higher ratio)
- Shake to combine periodically over the course of the next couple hours
- Stick it in the freezer for 24 hours
- Remove the solidified butter and strain through a coffee filter to remove all remnants of the fat
Done!
About
I was cleaning my house and dug up my first cocktail recipe book. Flipped it open and saw the recipe for the “Screaming Orgasm.” Equal parts of vodka, irish cream liqueur (aka Bailey’s), amaretto, and Kahlua. OK. 😐 Raise your hand if you’ve ever ordered a round of those shots, Blowjobs, or B52s – all in the same family of those blasphemous sugar-bombs. Guilty.
I was inspired to do an updated version of this using my salted brown butter infused gin that I thought turned out too salty, but was actually perfect in this drink. Holy crap, OMG yes. This is what a “Screaming Orgasm” should taste like.
