About
I have a bottle of scotch whisky I’m looking to finish off, which got me searching for some scotch recipes. I saw several that incorporated pear, and given that FALL IS HERE, and the fact that the St. George Spiced Pear Liqueur is one of the tastiest liqueurs ever that’s unfortunately a bit underused in my collection, I had to create this Old Fashioned variant.
An Old Fashioned-style cocktail is one that aims to highlight the main base spirit, which is enhanced by a bit of sweetness and some bitters to add some delicious unique complexity. Here, I used Drambuie, a honey-scotch liqueur and the spiced pear liqueur (think pears roasted with warm fall spices mmm) for sweetness, and added some barrel-aged vanilla bitters and orange peel oils to continue on that spice theme. Who knew that pear, scotch, and orange went so well together? If you like scotch, this is a must-try combo. It’s absolutely delicious and truly lets the scotch shine through.
