Flower Fields

Recipe

  • 1.5oz Fleurette Vermillion hibiscus-infused gin (to sub: try a 50/50 split of quality sloe gin and regular gin)
  • .5oz lemon juice
  • .25oz elderflower liqueur (I used Giffard)
  • 2oz tonic water

Shake everything except tonic water with ice. Strain onto fresh ice and top off with tonic water.

About

This gin&tonic variant uses the beautifully delicious New Alchemy Fleurette Vermilion gin. Fleurette is so-named because it incorporates a mélange of flowers in its distillation with 11 different ones including elderflower, chamomile, violet, lavender, and more. The rich orange-red color comes from the infusion of dried hibiscus flowers at the end of the process. Alongside some honey, this essentially creates a cross between a traditional gin and something of a sloe gin.

Unlike sloe gins that tend to be pretty sweet and more of a gin liqueur at a lower ABV, this one comes in at a full 46%. I kept it simple and added half a lemon with a bit of elderflower liqueur to accentuate the floral notes. Delish.
