Homemade Vanilla Syrup

Recipe

  • 1 vanilla bean
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 1 cup of water
  1. Bring the water to a boil and add the sugar until it’s fully dissolved (should be clear).
  2. Turn off the heat.
  3. Split the vanilla bean and scrape the beans into the syrup.
  4. Cut the bean into a couple pieces and throw it in the syrup.
  5. Let it sit for 12 hrs and strain into a bottle.
  6. Optionally drop the beans in the bottle and add a bit of vodka (you won’t need more than a tbsp or so) to help with preservation (depending how quickly you’ll use it up).

About

Been on a DIY kick lately, so made my first bottle of homemade vanilla bean syrup. OMG guys. Don’t ever purchase any commercial vanilla syrup again, this is SO easy and SO incredibly delicious. Even if you’re not a cocktail nerd, this is perfect for your morning coffee (first use of my concoction!) and will be absolutely delicious on anything from pancakes to ice cream to tea. The flavor from the vanilla bean is so absolutely divine!
