Recipe
- 1oz mezcal (I used Fidencio Clasico mezcal)
- 1oz apple brandy (I used Laird’s applejack)
- 1 barspoon agave
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- 1 dash orange bitters (I used Angostura orange for the added brightness)
Stir all ingredients with ice, and strain over a large cube. Add a fresh citrus (orange) twist.
About
Who likes stirred and boozy cocktails? This girl here. The Mezcal book by Emma Jansen has become my ultimate resource when it comes to mezcal recipes, so here’s one for ya to try out. Think citrus, smoke, and crisp fruit.
This is a simple, no-fuss cocktail for those nights you’re feelin’ like something a bit lighter than a whiskey Old Fashioned, yet still on the boozy potent side. This hails from Ricky Gomez of Teardrop Lounge in Portland. The original recipe recommends Del Maguey Santo Domingo Albarradas, which appears to be a fruitier, more citrus-y mezcal, but I pretty much just subbed my current go-to mixing mezcal.
