About

It’s Negroni Week! This is a yearly global event and fundraiser to raise money for various charitable causes (almost $1M to date!), while promoting one of the greatest cocktails of the world. What could be better? Many local bars this week will be whipping up unique Negroni creations, so check out negroniweek.com to see what’s happening near you! To kick off the week, here I have a twist on the classic Negroni, made using a new-to-me delicious amaro (an herbal bittersweet liqueur) I picked up recently – Amaro Meletti.

Negronis are traditionally made with 3 equal parts of gin, sweet vermouth, and a bittersweet liqueur (oftentimes Campari), so use that as your baseline as you venture out to create your own or interesting variations! This combo was bitter and complex with strong orange citrus notes from the Meletti, delicious after the first sip but even better as the ice melted and more of the peel oils diffused into the drink.
