About

The famous Piña Verde. This is the genius creation of Erick Castro from his San Diego bar Polite Provisions in San Diego. This is truly one of those magnificent masterpieces that sounds so crazy, is truly unique, and is just so fabulously delicious. This is the piña colada variant that will make any cocktail enthusiast crazy with delight. The rum in the traditional island libation is replaced with none else but Green Chartreuse. A whopping entire 1.5oz! A Chartreuse-BASED drink!

Green Chartreuse is an herbal liqueur (super potent at 55%abv) made by French Carthusian monks. It’s been around for hundreds of years, and the recipe is known to only 3 people (read more here). The flavor is like no other, as one would expect with a liqueur made from 100 different herbs and botanicals.

Usually even a barspoon of Chartreuse can completely transform a drink, so employing this spirit as the BASE of the drink is pure genius. I can’t say enough good things about this drink, and anyone with a bottle of Green Chartreuse must try it at least once.
