Recipe
- 1.5oz St. Royale green tea vodka
- .5oz lime juice
- .5oz lemon juice
- .25oz heavy cream
- .25oz honey syrup (1:1 honey/water mix)
- Few drops of orange flower water (I use Cortas brand – it’s super important to find a quality Mediterranean or French brand; don’t settle for Fee’s version, that tastes like literally nothing)
- 1oz sparkling water
Shake all ingredients except the sparkling water with ice. Strain into a glass and top off with the fizzy water.
About
I am a huge fan of the classic Ramos gin fizz (it’s pronounced Ray-mos btw, not Rah-mos). It was the first cocktail that absolutely shocked me by how delicious it was. I was in awe and couldn’t believe such a cocktail existed. I was in New Orleans at Cure (amaaazing bar!) and to this day still remember the one crucial advice the bartender gave: don’t substitute heavy cream with half&half. Full cream adds an unparalleled creaminess and richness that really MAKES this drink sing.
Know what else is creamy and delicious? Matcha lattes. So, here we marry the two for this absolutely DELICIOUS riff of a Ramos Gin Fizz. I passed on the egg white bc I didn’t any fresh enough eggs. And since I like my lattes egg-free, it was not missed. The floral creamy tartness of the classic recipe pairs perfectly with the tea flavors of this yummy green tea vodka, which still stands out boldly even against all the other flavors… In short, imagine a full-flavored green tea spirit with a delightful sweetness from honey and no sharp edges, blended harmoniously into a floral creamy citrusy delight. Mmmmmm, can I have another?
