Tubi 60

Tubi 60. I love discovering new spirits of the world, and am a huge believer in cultural exploration thru food&drink, so I was super excited to try out this Israeli spirit which has been all the rage in Israel. Luckily for us Americans, it’s recently become available in the US thanks to an independent importer, whom I was fortunate to have met on my recent trip to Austin, TX, where Tubi is just beginning its US expansion.

In Israel, this 40% ABV intensely flavorful and unfiltered spirit is generally taken as a shot, and you can sort of think of it as the Jerusalem equivalent of the San Francisco – Fernet Branca craze. This is unlike any spirit I’ve tasted before, and definitely has amazing cocktail potential.

Tubi 60 had modest beginnings as a homemade creation for non-commercial sales, made by infusing a corn-based neutral spirit with high quality herbs and botanicals. Its elevated popularity over the past few years can be largely attributed to its unique and distinct flavor profile. For its flavor composition, Tubi 60 incorporates a combination of many classic ingredients and spices used in Israeli cuisine, making this a great showcase of flavors that are truly Israeli.

The overall flavor is tart and citrusy with lemon peel and ginger, savory with notes of cumin, saffron, fennel, turmeric, and yet maintains a strong herbal component that is refreshing and lightly mentholated. Tubi is available in Texas, New York, New Jersey, California, and Florida. Learn more on texavivi.com!
