About
When I started BarFaith, one of my goals was to better familiarize myself with the classic cocktails and just be more well versed in the world of ingredients and spirits. I thought the process of visually documenting my drinks and inventorying my bottles would be somewhat of a forcing function to help achieve that, and fortunately it really has. So, to be honest I rarely find myself completely creating new original recipes, given that there are sooo many amazing recipes I still need to try on my learning journey (and only so many drinks I can imbibe).
That all said, I do sometimes enjoy riffing variants on proven classics. For this one, I started with the unique Standard Wormwood Rye Whiskey, which has a distinct undeniable bitterness on top of the expected spicy rye. What better use than to try it in the classic bittersweet Boulevardier? (basically a Negroni, replacing gin with whiskey). I added a couple dashes of orange bitters to freshen it up a bit, and the result is decidedly bitter, intense, and deeply flavorful.
