Calvados Pays d’Auge

Roger Groult Calvados Pays d’Auge. Calvados is a spirit you may not be familiar with, but should be! Calvados is an apple brandy (spirit distilled from apples, sometimes pears) from France that’s regulated by an appellation (which defines where the apples must be grown and the process for creating the spirit).

The fruits are first pressed and fermented to make a cider, then distilled to a higher proof and barrel aged for a minimum of 2 years, and it is absolutely DELICIOUS. If you’re a fan of brandies, you’ll love the American applejack‘s French cousin. The taste is both deliciously fresh of crisp apple and warm and inviting with the aromas of a barrel-aged spirit. Definitely love this one and honestly I don’t reach for it enough. Absolutely the best for fall-themed cocktails (apples&spice mmmm…)!
