About

Craft cocktails and craft beers have all been booming in the recent years, so it’s about time the worlds collided! The Owl’s Brew is a female-led company seeking to bring the complex and intricate flavors of tea to the cocktail world. For me? Well, I had to try it when I saw they had a product called “That’s My Jam,” which is (somewhat embarrassingly) a regular phrase in my vocabulary.

The Owl’s Brew has a line of tea-based cocktail mixers as well as tea-beer hybrids. “That’s My Jam” is an amber ale infused with hibiscus darjeeling tea, strawberry, and lemon. These beer/tea/cocktail-mixer combos are definitely crafted with cocktail creation in mind, as they’re a bit too thick and sweet to drink on its own (in my opinion).

To pair with its slightly bitter, yet fruit-forward flavors, I thought a makeshift tiki drink was in store. The fruity flavors of the “beer” paired fantastically with the lighter fruitier rums I chose. It’s fun when “artisan” beverages collide, and I challenge you all to try a cocktail with another popular beverage you love outside the world of spirits, whether that be a tea, cold brew coffee, kombucha, beer, craft soda, or wine!
