Banana Old Fashioned

Recipe

  • 2oz bourbon (I used Buffalo Trace)
  • .5oz Giffard Banane du Bresil liqueur
  • Couple dashes chocolate bitters (I used Fee’s)

Stir all ingredients with ice and strain over a fresh large cube. Express a lemon peel over top.

About

Holy. If you have the Giffard Banana du Bresil liqueur around, stop what you’re doing and go make this immediately! This is a simple Old Fashioned riff combining sweet toasty bourbon with banana and chocolate. Bourbon, chocolate, and banana, need I say more?

If the thought of banana liqueur scares you a bit, rest assured – this liqueur is seriously like a liquid version of caramelized banana bread fresh from the oven, complete with a toasty crust. I was terrified of banana liqueur after a poor decision buying a bottle of 99 Bananas that haunted my homebar for years, but this bottle has completely turned me around 180. Still not convinced? Go check out Giffard Banane du Bresil.

BTW, not an ad but if you are a fan of chocolate and bananas in any way shape or form, you have got to check out the Barnana chocolate covered soft banana snacks (look on Amazon for a pic). I get mine from Whole Foods usually. It’s a little pricy but INCREDIBLE. I should have garnished with those!
