Feelin’ Peachy

Recipe

  • 1oz peach-infused bourbon (you can sub regular bourbon plus a tsp of your syrup or jam of choice)
  • 1oz Amaretto (I used Disaronno)
  • 1oz lemon juice
  • (optional) Couple dashes of bitters (I used some barrel aged vanilla bitters from 5×5 Tonics)
  • 1 egg white

Shake all ingredients WITHOUT ice (make sure you seal it tight) for half a minute. Add ice and shake some more. Strain into a glass over fresh ice and enjoy the fluffy life.

About

Amaretto was one of the first liqueurs I knew of and picked up when I first started building my home bar, but these days, I almost NEVER reach for it. I can’t even remember the last time I made a drink with amaretto. Amaretto is a sweet nutty liqueur usually made with apricot kernels (not almonds!), which makes it nut allergy safe.

Well, let me tell you…if you have a bottle of amaretto lying around – go make this right now! This was so delicious, and not at all too sweet like what many associate with amaretto drinks. It’s a twist on an Amaretto Sour, using my homemade peach bourbon. Perfect for the holidays as well!

Infusions can sometimes seem intimidating, but it’s actually super simple. Take your favorite fruit, wash it well, and stick it in a jar. Pour your spirit of choice (bourbon, gin, rum, tequila, whatever) over it til covered, and let it sit for about a week (usually). You can give it a shake once in a while, and then strain it after it’s done to remove all particles from the liquid (a coffee filter works great for this).
