Giffard Passionfruit Liqueur. This liqueur is incredible. I’ve raved about the Giffard grapefruit and banana liqueurs previously, and this adds to my obsession over their amazing liqueurs.
Passionfruit (also called maracuya or lilikoi) is one of the most exotic and amazing fruits in the world. The natural fruit is quite tart, but when sweetened, is truly the fruit of the gods.
Passionfruit syrup is commercially available or can even pretty easily be made at home using frozen pulp, but one benefit of having it in liqueur form is the longer shelf life. Flavorwise, compared to the Small Hand Foods passionfruit syrup I own, it is less acidic and not quite as ‘bright’/fruity; instead, it’s got more of a honey taste and silky texture to it while still remaining unmistakably passionfruit. I think it works particularly well in boozy stirred drinks and is complete magic with mezcal. If you enjoy the flavor of passionfruit, this one is worth trying out!
