About

How are you celebrating the 4th? If you’re doin’ some outdoor grillin or patio chillin, here’s the perrrfect accompaniment to quench your thirst. So amazingly crisp and *way* too easy to down; gimme 5 o deez plz.

Cucumbers kind of taste like watermelon rind – does anyone get that? Growing up we bought a lot of seeded watermelon, and to avoid the seeds, I’d gravitate to the sections closer to the rinds that are less sweet and has a bit of that crisp vegetal flavor. Alas I developed a fondness for that taste, and the pairing of watermelon with cucumber really nails it!

When using fresh water-rich fruits/veggies as the primary flavoring component in cocktails, it’s easier for the drink to taste a bit overdiluted or light compared to those made with syrup/liqueurs. To counteract that, the addition of salt helps to intensify the natural flavors of the ingredients.

Finally, edible garnishes aren’t just for funsies, they can really change the experience of the drink as the lingering flavor in your mouth between sips interacts with the cocktail. And well, feta cheese + watermelon are a match made in heaven.

Hope you all have an amazing day (extra long weekend maybe?) relaxing with friends and fam! CHEERS!
