Mezcal & Tonic

Recipe

  • 1.5oz mezcal (Del Maguey Vida)
  • 3oz Fevertree elderflower tonic water (you can also sub regular tonic water plus a barspoon of elderflower liqueur like St.Germain)
  • Pinch of smoked sea salt (or regular salt is fine) — this salty quality totally MAKES this drink. Don’t skip it.

Combine all liquid ingredients in a glass over ice and gently stir to combine. Add a spritz of lime and drop in. Sprinkle on your salt and just let it dissolve in the drink.

About

When I saw @todays_tipple’s recent post on the T&T (Tequila&Tonic), I knew I had to give it a shot. After using half of my Fevertree Elderflower Tonic Water (delicious, btw!) on a classic G&T, I decided it was the perfect opportunity to give the T&T a try.

As I reached for my tequila, I saw my mezcal, and decided that a Mezcal&Tonic was in the books for the night. And well, holy crap this is delicious. The almighty tonic water never fails anything. Mix up your tonic water with any spirit and you should be golden. Heck, even cold brew & tonic is all the rage these days in the hipster coffee shops.
