Stir all ingredients with ice, then strain over a large cube. Express an orange peel over top and garnish with a couple of brandied cherries.

WOW oh wow, this is so so good. I’ve been on the mezcal & Sfumato train nonstop lately. I love the taste of Negronis, but don’t love how sweet they can be and to be honest I often hesitate to make drinks with 2 ounces of high-sugar liqueurs. With this cocktail I’ve found the answer to all my problems, and perhaps my new favorite Negroni variant! This pleases my dry-inclined palate, and offers all the greatness of the bitter Negroni, with less sweetness and lots of smoke. This. Is. Perfect.
