About
Public Service Announcement: Passionfruit and mezcal are a match made in heaven. Who’s with me? So, here’s a drink that plays with that harmonious combo and adds in some spice with Ancho Reyes, a liqueur made with smoky Ancho chilies warmed with notes of honey, cinnamon, and cocoa. At 40% abv, Ancho Reyes is potent, yet not too sweet, providing a very versatile role in all sorts of cocktails.
The end result is smoky, spicy, sweet, and tangy all at once. Each sip lingers with some heat, but is quickly balanced by the refreshing tropical passionfruit. I can’t draw any comparisons to other well known drinks, but this was definitely savored and well loved til the last drop.
