Bitters can be thought of as the spices of the cocktail world. A couple drops can completely transform a drink, taking it from “meh” to incredible. The most well known is “Angostura aromatic bitters,” but there are now hundreds to thousands of different bitters on the market. They are extremely potent in flavor, and as the name implies, backed by a bitter foundation. Flavors vary from light to heavy, fruity to spicy, and artisans relish in creating all types of unique combinations.
